They started separating, less collaborating: they started visiting palces like india (pop culturey), but very exotic in their eyes, george started picking up classical indian music, song included indian instruments (veena, sitar, discovering the wonder of multitrack recording. Layered the same voice, took lots of practice and added a richness, thickness into a track. Makes use of tape loops (avant-garde: advanced guard, people who are the cutting edge of whats artistic) and backwards recording. Vocal is double-tracked and is run through a leslie speaker cabinet. Lyrics are based on the tibetan book of the dead. John was known as the intellectual of the group: one interview in march 1966, very extensive. The interview started talking about the importance of the baby boomers and pop culture because there was a generation gap between parents and kids. Then talked about religion, said was jesus was alright. Tens of thousands of people were crying and going nuts of why they didn"t go.
