MSCI131 Lecture 7: MSCI 131 - Week 4
Document Summary
Msci 131 work design and facilities planning. A pmts is database of basic motion elements and their associated normal time values, together with procedures for applying the data to analyze manual tasks and establish standard times for the tasks. A set of tables listing time values that correspond to the basic motion elements. Associated with each motion element is a set of normal times depending on distance, weight, etc. Basic motions include: reach, grasp, move, release. They are realized on several workers under controlled conditions. Performance rating is not required: controversial step, based on judgment, possible disagreement with the worker. Can be applied to determine the time standard for a task before production as well as to set a standard for an existing task. These fundamental motions are difficult to evaluate with stopwatch time study. There are over 50 systems (not many are used) If so, go back to step 1: apply allowances to determine standard time.
