Became a terrorist bc he was angry at how the us deal with muslim terrorists. Became a celebrity bc he uploaded dozens of videos of himself recruiting young muslims to join him on youtube. He was then banished and assassinated by the us. When an individual/group comes to adopt extreme political, social or religious ideals that reject the status quo or expressions of freedom of choice. Radicalization became popular with rise of homegrown terrorism . Relative and hard to define notion (moderate to radical implies a continuum & need to specify criteria) Ordinary profile to the process on how they become terrorists. Largely male but there are women involved. Poverty not a cause but a factor. No psychopathology bc there"s no real proof and anyone can become terrorists. Mostly immigrants, children of immigrants and converters.
