Document Summary
These theories were used to explain juvenile gangs. Explanaions concentrated on the social nature of delinquency. Explanaions were developed to explain delinquent gang behaviour of lower-class males. Delinquency is a lower-class, male phenomenon: overwhelmingly a male acivity, lower class male acivity, by in large boys commit more crimes than girls do, what these theories assume is that only males are delinquent. Most delinquent behavior occurs within group or within a gang seing. If the delinquent is acing alone it is shown that they are highly inluenced by their peers. What follows from this is the look at delinquency in groups and gangs. Assumpion that juvenile is concentrated in the lower class: especially juvenile gang acivity. There is certainly enough delinquency in the subpopulaion of delinquency with males and that"s what these theorists what to explain. He observed that much of the delinquent acivity in intercity areas were commited by gang members.
