Introduction to functions of the law: terminology and concepts. Relatively clear separation between legal institutions and other types of institutions: subjugation of other institutions to the legal authority of legal institutions, other institutions are subject to the law (i. e. law applies to the political system) Nature of the legal doctrine: criminal code, precedents, body of common law (general rules) In civil law doctrine is the writings of the law. Law as a coherent, organic body of rules and principles with its own logic. Idea of system of law, has its own rules on how the law will change and grow. Existence and specialized training of lawyers and other legal personnel. The rule of law: law applies equally to everyone, nobody is above the law, allows the law to constrain the government, prevent arbitrary power. Power is exercised according to laws generated by duly constituted authority.
