Life expectancy: # of years someone is expected to live, not everyone in the population will reach this number. Life expectancy at the 0 and at the age of 65. Life span: talks about the human life span, how many years a human can live. Daly: disability adjusted life expectancy how many years can you expect to live without being impaired with a disability. Also talks about how many years we enjoy our life, without any chronic conditions. Compression of morbidity hypothesis: because of our advances in our healthcare system, if we know we can expect to be reasonably healthy, more and more are able to postpone their chronic disability to a later age. 20th century: life expectancy was between 45-50 yrs. Today we live in a different world; globally we have 10 years higher in developed countries compared to developing countries. Women in developed countries have higher life expectancy than men, but lower in developing countries.
