The person with the most interest in the incident and who can remain objective is usually the best choice. Direct supervisor: has a personal interest, knows people and workplace conditions, can obtain information and take corrective action. Preserve the incident scene: notify appropriate persons. Injured worker has received medical attention and incident scene is safe: evacuate necessary individuals, shut down any required machinery, immediate steps taken to control hazards. Ensure the scene and any related evidence is protected: no evidence removed or disturbed.
