People have different understandings as to what counts as evidence. Some may think qt data is better than ql data. What counts as evidence in science needs to be interrogated: practice, research, policy. Defining public health and their values help determine expectations of what the organizations do. Contemporary public health has been shaped by history, obviously. Tuskegee syphilis experiment: went untreated for 40 years. National health crisis in the early 20th century. Us thought syphilis was only in black people. Doctors deliberately let their patients with syphilis die. April 1952: dr bradley tested white flour in the diets. Benefits and hazards of adding synthetic vitamins in foods is still yet to be found beneficial. Cow pox-women who got cow pox did not develop smallpox. Bacteria was not scene as a way of spreading disease a long time ago. 7 key principles that are highlighted: non-maleficence do no harm , beneficence, health maximization, efficiency, respect for autonomy, justice, proportionality.
