Cogniive ergonomics: concerned with mental processes such as percepion, memory, reasoning, and motor response as they afect interacions among humans and other elements of a system. Color/hue: red, green, blue composiion of a colour. Luminance: light energy of the source, measure in candela. Saturaion : intensity of a colour, as in how much it difers from white. Schneiderman"s design principle: get it right in black and white. Physical phenomenon of vision: botom up model of vision. Brain can also inluence how we see things: top-down model. Visual search task: when a person searches a visual ield for a target. Also contains non targets which are called distracters. Any task in which someone"s job is to separate a signal from noise ( airport security) Sensiivity (botom-up): number of good outcomes relaive to the total. Response bias (top-down): the bias of the operator to respond yes vs no: Values or costs of misses and false alarm.
