Was a mood, a feeling that people had during this time, not sure what mood it was but it. It was not like the middle ages when they were unaware of the fact they were in the middle ages. It was the 1700s and they knew something new was coming - and they were very excited about it. We will be even better than the past. Others have copied ancient greece or other cultures but we are making something new. You did not need to resign to death. they were finding ways to not only improve their ideas and thoughts but improve overall life of every citizens. Historians used to study ideas of the enlightenment, but now they are studying how the ideas made a difference and were applied to people"s lives. Excitement about new ideas where they could interact and talk about them. Coffee and a newspaper at hand stimulated people and great discussions were brought about: libraries.
