So(cid:272)ial reprodu(cid:272)tio(cid:374) refers to the (cid:271)road ra(cid:374)ge of pra(cid:272)ti(cid:272)es that (cid:373)ai(cid:374)tai(cid:374) a(cid:374)d reprodu(cid:272)e particular relations of production: the necessary labor to arrive the next day at the factory gate. Social reproduction involves: reproduction of the population, everyday subsidence and live. Longer term reproduction of the labour force: differentiation of population re: labour skills (through schooling, etc. , exists in dialectical relation with production, tension filled relationship but still connected, market wouldn"t exist without this. Less and less money for social assistance around the world: welfare retrenchment, disinvestment in and privatisation of public space. Idea of shopping malls and who is expected to be there: third worlding of many urban neighbourhoods and rising child poverty. Child work: children"s participation in economic activity - that does not degatively affect their health and development or interfere with education, can be positive.
