Document Summary
Nature: a social creation as well as the physical environment that includes human being. Nature is both a physical realm and a social creation. More recently humans as stewards or caretakers of the environment. Animism: belief that natural phenomena possess a spirit or consciousness. Shapes beliefs about the natural world and its important. Rituals may impact the way in which resources are used. Ethical systems may impact the way in which resources are used. 1) more extraction of natural resources due to more population. Environment: physical components, atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, lithospere and biosphere in which humans, other living species and non animate phenomena exist. Society: the sum of the inventions, institutions and relationships created and reproduced by human beings across particular places and times. Buddhism: humans cannot be separated from nature - humans and the planet are one and the same. Resources: specific components of the environment like forests, wildlife, oceans, minerals, petroleum etc.
