The hero"s journey (also known as hero monomyth) The ordinary world: everyday life is told to us. The call to adventure: disrupts the comfort and familiarity of the day to day life. Refusal of the call: reluctant at rst since unfamiliarity is scary. Meeting with the mentor (supernatural aid): needs guidance, gains advice / training. Crossing the threshold: the journey truly begins from the world they know to the new. Tests, allies, and enemies: hurdles try to stop him in his path, nds out who is who. The ordeal: something that needs to be faced to save themselves or their world. The reward: overcome the challenge and reconcile any past relationship issues. The road back: a nal scene being ushered back into the ordinary world. The resurrection: its a nal battle followed by success. Return with the elixer: reward and returned home as a changed person. Brought together psychoanalysis and the hero"s journey.
