Text strings / character strings / strings: labels. 3 kinds of cell entries: labels (words), numeric values ($), formulas (uses = sign) When a formula is entered it must begin with an equals sign (=) Relative address: cells address relative to the previous cells. $ in an address indicates that it will not be changed if copied into another cell. To ll cell entries drag bottom right corner of cell. Name a cell: highlight, click, type, enter. Parameter (arguments): represents the data that will be given to the function. Count: counts the number of numeric values. Search: search for a label in the leftmost position. Mid: extracts part of a label (e. g. the rst ve letters of a name) Len: returns a number of characters in a label. : auto sum (shortcut for the sum function) If function: if (logic test, [value if true], [value if false])
