The mycenaeans were heavily influenced by the minoans, so were known as minoan-influenced. However these kingdoms were not large at all. Age were also not similar to the classical greek culture because they were heavily influenced by the east, so they were thought of as being discontinuous. There was linguistic continuity and some religious continuity. The most famous of the mycenaean cities was mycenae which is where the strange gold face guy picture was found. It was thought that king agamemnon lived here, who we know from homer"s iliad. The first excavator of mycenae (and ancient troy) was. Heinrich schliemann found the death mask (the gold strange guy) which they would put over the dead body of a king in their tombs. When schliemann found this death mask, he said i have looked at the face of king agamemnon himself because he thought the stuff in homer"s iliad was historically accurate, which it"s not, so he was being dumb.
