The word myth comes from greek = mythos. Not every story is a myth but every myth is a story. Tradition based on latin to hand something over from generation to generation . Homers time did not have chariots, it was found that the mycenaean"s did have them in the bronze age. However homer would talk about myths in his time that had chariots in them. Cheifton bring on travelling bards (singers) and throw a feast for his local supporters. The barder would sing songs of ancient heroes. Cheifton is not quite a chief but high up.
