BIOL302 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Merkel Cell, Lamellar Corpuscle, Keratin
Document Summary
We can see interdigitation of the stratum basale. Langerhans cells are clear cells that are found in the stratum spinosum. Can be one layer thick or multiple layer thick. There are generally no nuclei above this layer. In the em we can see granules that fill the cytoplasm. It is a layer that always breaks off when sections. Between stratum corneum and stratum granulosum we will see stratum lucidum. In the scalp we have the thinnest skin. The thicker the skin the more we will see the papillae and the more the papillae the more we will see pacinian corpuscles. The thicker the skin the more fie touch we will see. The pigment lies over the nucleus in the keratinocytes. Any white cell in the stratum spinosum is a langerhans cells. The follicle roots itself at the junction between the dermis and the epidermis. You wont be asked to recognize the layers in a vertical section.
