Linked to pleasure in different erogenous zones and some conflicts to be resolved (e. g. , oedipus complex) Too much gratification or too much frustration at any stage leads to fixation. A series of different forms of sexual energy into which personality develops as the child matures. Conflict & anxiety at each stage that must be resolved or will become fixated at that level.
