Nutrients you are talking about mineral resources ( nitrogen phosphorous ) and how that moved through the system. Movement of energy are driven by movements of xed carbon through the system. Most of the time the plant initially survives herbivory, unless it is a seed it will. Herbivory: the consumption of all or part of a plant immediately die. There are huge numbers of predator with complex life cycles, a large proportion of herbivorous species relative to carnivores. Herbivores are constraint in 2 direction, the predators and type of food. The predators can keep the herbivore population below what the potential food source can be. Positive interaction between the carnivore and plants because they are both interacting through the herbivores.
