Document Summary

Development: germination, shoots elongation( conceptive response to light, from the red far ratio), orientation, ower initiation. Carbon dioxide + water energized by photosynthetic radiation produced carbon compounds. Brings energy into the ecosystem, gives net primary productivity. Photosynthesis vs irradiance ( light level ) - graph. Irradiance: the amount of energy in photosynthetic radiation that is arriving to the plant. The positive values represent producing oxygen, production of energy in excess of the operating cost of the leaf. Where the curve is the respiration rate of the leaf ( red line ), as there is more light photosynthesis happens and when the line crosses zero the leaf does useful work for the plant. Saturation point, there is max e ciency of the available chlorophyll, (where the curve levels out) any light above their point is waste. Transpiration: movement of water through the soil through the plant, though the leaved and out though the stomata.
