Water use vs water depletion** - use water and put it back into the ecosystem. 3% of all water on earth that is fresh water. Of the freshwater on earth, 1% is available for human use. Agriculture accounts for 70% of global annual water consumption. A large proportion is irrigation but also for livestock. As global population and livestock go up water is getting harder to access. This is also linked to access to food. Water removal from a watershed for human needs, some of which may be returned and use down stream. Water removed from a watershed or contaminated such that unavailable for other uses. Amount of water that is polluted is considered consumption even through does not enter facility. When water is contaminated with nitrate, when it is consumed by mothers and infants they turn blue because they are limited to oxygen. Transport system - water moves through the ecosystems through clouds and transpiration.
