Document Summary

Neglected his family, stopped writing because of his obsession. Goes somewhat mad during the creation of his creature. Cuts himself off from not only his family and friends but every part of the outside world (page 55, paragraph 3) Only regarded as a workshop of filthy creation in retrospect. Even cuts himself off from nature (science vs. nature) Works in secrecy from even his professors for fear of negative judgment. Could say that his obsession and madness is due to a mental breakdown (brain fever) or also that it causes this. His father does not give up on him after years of no letters yet he still does not respond. Point to specific passages to illustrate your contentions. Like a parent society would expect him to make sure the monster is a functioning member of society. Not directly responsible but has failed as the father of his creation. Frankenstein cannot be punished since his responsibility is indirect.
