Data may be collected in the form of numerous measurements or observations on a group of objects or people. These measurements are called variables because the value of each of these variables varies from person to person or from object to object. For example, we may collect height, weight, gender, and iq score for 10 students out of a class of 100 students. Data may also be collected on one subject over a period of time. For example, we may be interested in the dollar sales of a retail store each month over a ve year period.
