Use ethnicity to stratify people: different societies have different ordering. In canadian societies - vertical mosaic - not all groups are equal: evidence shows the aboriginal people are at the bottom - in relation to those in power. Ethnic standpoint: europeans - leaders, etc More to inequality than just economic - need material before economy. It is the economy structure that determines the hierarchy, sex, ethnicity. Slavery - use racism to justify this: the material is war, crime, and debt - creates enslavement. Theme - one person owning another person.
