Looking glass self - charles horton cooley: the self develops with relations with others. How the self is a reflection of others peoples reaction to us. We learn how others make us feel - as babies. We still talk to (cid:271)a(cid:271)ies, e(cid:448)en though they don"t understand it. When a baby need something - is the response positive or negative. Looking-glass self - see social self in the reflection with other people: see ourselves in the reactions of other people. Imagine how do we appear to other people. In this moment - judging ourselves: do they see me as ugly/pretty etc Imagine how others judge/evaluate us: experience of some emotional that is associated with these judgements, feel pride, embarrassment, happiness. In our own experiences - (cid:449)e don"t noti(cid:272)e these. Our self concept often develops the substance, we ahead of out ability to see how others see us. How we imagine how we appear to others is our own perception/imagination.
