The living beings - share culture, langauge, identity, and territory. Humans are separated from nature - culture fills in the gap. Culture - material - physical objects - k(cid:374)ifes, chairs, etc food, (cid:373)usic: non-material - the embodiement of culture. The ideas, beliefs, norms, and values: every material object emobides the culture, non-material guides our behaviours. Folkways: appropriate/inappropriate - bot vital to the well being/survival of the group, fashion - middle age women not dressed her age. Then embarrassed - the sanction: texting in class - folkway, texting while driving - law. Same behaviour - evaluated differently based on the context. Drinking a driving - started as folkway - then law - it has long term effects. Ideas about an objective state of the wold acted upon as if it were true whether it is true or not. Ex - hard work pays off - We act o(cid:374) the(cid:373) as if they"re true whether it is true or (cid:374)ot: value.
