Document Summary
Manage consequences to moivate athleic behaviour: several diferent categories of consequences that can moivate paricipaion in sports and improve pracice and compeiive performance. The idea of winning, the crown clapping and cheering, metals and rewards is really appealing to some people. A powerful reinforcer for most athletes is the coach"s praise. Some people mainly paricipate because of the consequences of self-improvement: it is reinforcing to see personal improvements. Something that some athletes would ind rewarding is the simulaion of visual, tacile and auditory sensaions while paricipaing in a sport. An important component for many moivaional strategies is a system to record and chart the behaviours to be moivated: studies say that once posted, progress tends to increase. This involves a consequence and a antecedent: page 91. Winning is paired with a variety of reinforcers, therefore cues that are associated with winning become strong condiioned reinforcers for most athletes. Peer approval and atenion can be a powerful moivator.
