Alternative use a selection buffer and drawing an exact copy of what we see on screen into an offscreen( not visible) frame buffer except every object is drawn it"s a different colour. Get the clock location colour from the offscreen framebuffer and that colour uniquely identifies the only we click on. Selection handles appear when an object is selected, give you s larger hit target to edit the shape. May include things like vertices , corners, boxes, centre of circles and sometimes constraints too. Rotation handle allows to drag and change rotation instead of the shape. Other selection indicators ( colour change, outline and acids aligned or orientated box) If we want to easily align objects on a grid called snap. Or at times align objects to each other, or get the two points very close to each other the algorithm aligns them at some point which is called gravity.
