Lecture 10 the endomembrane system and the endoplasmic reticulum. Overview of the endomembrane system: a series of discrete, dynamic membrane bound spaces including: Proteins and small molecules are transported between compartments of the endomembrane system via vesicles: vesicles small circles of membrane surrounding an aqueous interior. The cargo molecules are accumulated to a budding site via signals. The vesicle that is formed also has signals on it that tell the. Vesicles carry: soluble proteins in the interior, soluble small molecules in the interior, integral membrane proteins in the membrane of the vesicle, membrane in the membrane of the vesicle. Materials are stored in membrane-bound granules and are only released when the proper signal occurs. E. g. neurotransmitter release, gastric juice release of pancreatic cells: constitutive secretion. E. g. excreting ecm material: endocytic pathway. Or materials are brought from the golgi apparatus to lysosomes.

I started this assignment and was going to go withfunction and morphology.
