O2 used: to replenish stores of glycogen, c~p, o2 on hemoglobin, myoglobin, to convert lactic acid. Also increased body temp from exercise and increased metabolism. Deep rapid breathing until body returns to the resting state. Conduction system non-contractile ( ie modified: cardiac muscle cells. Produce ap spontaneously: no stimulus required but at different rates, sinoatrial ( sa) node in right atrium. Rate = 100 aps/min ( modified by psns to be 75 aps/min. Produces aps faster than other areas = pacemaker. In a healthy heart: atrioventricular (av) node in right atrium. Backup to sa node: bundle of his ( av bundle, originates at av node, only route for electrical activity to go from atria to ventricles and bundle branches ( rt and left)
