Document Summary
Interneuron axons cross spinal cord: other leg goes down. Autocrine: cell that releases a chemical signal that binds to a receptor on the same cell, and releases some kind of response, cell turning itself on. Paracrine: cell that release a chemical signal into a fluid that interacts with other cells that are nearby. It binds to a receptor and releases a response. Neuroendocrine: cell that produces the signal is a neuron, neurotransmitter is released in the bloodstream to have an affect somewhere else, neuro hormone. Glands: hypothalamus, pituitary gland, these 2 control a lot of other glands, adrenal glands, pancreas. Polypeptides: water solu(cid:271)le, (cid:272)a(cid:374) (cid:373)ove i(cid:374) the (cid:271)lood easy (cid:271)ut it"s too large to (cid:373)ove a(cid:272)ross a plasma membrane. Amines: water or lipid soluble, modified amino acids, can cross plasma membrane. Target specific effects: epinephrine, liver vs blood vessel. Receptor specific effects: epinephrine, beta vs alpha receptor isoforms.
