Boudicca was married to prasutagus, ruler of the iceni people of east anglia. When the romans concuered southern england in ad 43, they allowed. However, when prasitagus died the romans decided to rule the iceni directly and confiscated the property of the leading tribesmen. Boudicca has no right to succession but her people appreciated her as a natural leader. Following her they defeated the roman army at colchester, then moving on to londiniuim. It was a powerful uprising led by a queen and so, all the more ruthlessly, put down the romans. The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn . Gloria marie steinem is an american feminist, journalist, and the social and political activists who became nationally recognized as a leader and spokeswomen for the feminist movement in the late 1960s and early 70s. A matriarchial model was the formative organization of pre-historic societies, steinem, 1972.
