Night to his day : gender is so persuasive in our society that we assume it"s bred into our genes. If gender signs seem to be ambiguous, we seem to place the person into a category. Humans are constantly categorizing others, and we nd it uncomfortable when we cannot gure out which gender they belong to. Two different ways of choosing people for tasks in society, (1) talents, motivation and competence (2) gender, race and ethnicity. Process of gender created by; law, religion, science and society"s set of values. Gender as process, strati cation and structure : gender is the process of creating distinguishable social status to assign rights and responsibilities. Expectations are enforced by inappropriate gender imposed by peers and society. Strati cation system ranks men above women of the same race and class. Consider what society would be like if women was a, and man was not.
