Officers tell community what they need for them and community tell the police what they need from them, give and take relationship: symbolic leveling of the status hierarchy. In the past citizens said the police always thought they were better then the police. Want them to now communicate to give off the message that the public is the police and the police is the public. Provide balance amongst police and the community: decentralization and embedding. The idea that you want to get police officers out of the department and spread them around in the community, make them part of the community. Not about just roaming around, but physically locating them in micro-stations (mini police stations in urban landscapes: order and control as co-production. Achieving decentralization and embedding would allow for there to be order in society: pr and trust. Some rejection and other accept police in the community: when, late 70s-80s innovation.
