Many have been involved in sex trades: three categories of gang-involved young females, members of all-women street gangs- all female gangs are rare in. Joining gangs: benefits of gang membership, sense of belonging: they may not have a sense of belonging elsewhere so they turn to gang involvement. 3: safety: people come from marginalized communities and poverty, maybe the neighborhood they come from is unsafe but a gang may give them that feeling of safety.
