Capitalism: pro t is reinvented and reused, creates a lot of power for the people who have it. People of all classes engage in violent acts, we just de ne upper class crime differently. Laws are either eliminated or changed into regulatory laws instead of criminal laws. Coal miners were killed in nova scotia (westray), but minimal sanctions were taken against them, ned chump change. Atypical crime, it"s not seen in the newspaper as often as street crime, we don"t know what the criminal looks like, it"s hard to de ne it. *challenger blowup: people were responsible, they knew the space shuttle was broken. Offenders are often trusted in society, usually carry a high level of respect (prevents us from looking at them objectively) Usually they are not the focus of the law. *i. e workers in factories here and abroad, tampered food products, environmental pollution problems.
