Criminalization of dissent/ oppression of weak/ production of crime and criminals. Causes simplified- for example: after 9/11 all problems within society blamed on it when in reality far too simplistic explanation. Participants stigmatized (folk devil- the embodiment of everything that is wrong with society) Media makes moral panics even more prominent today. Fate: life can"t be changed, make the best of it. Toughness: manliness, being a womanizer , very biological and physical, when you don"t have lots of assets your body is all you have. This is the recipe for anti-social behaviour (anti-social personality) This is the criminal mind from the sociological perspective. Account= when humans want to do something wrong they need to justify it to themselves and to others (guilt is social production and we need to neutralize it) Make up excuses or justifications to tell themselves they are normal persons despite their wrongdoing/ protection of their sense of self.
