Week 7: stigma and mental health: guest speakers. Jill cruikshank, program manager for community outreach and support programs, homewood. Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or in rmity. There is a spectrum of mental health. Mhcc was established in 2006: consults those living with mental health. Local health integration networks decide where funds go, in charge of all health, currently mental health concerns represent 15% of the diseased, but only 5% of the funds. Disruption of activities of daily life, emotional disturbances, relationship changes & increasing isolation, risks of self harm and suicidal behaviours, cognitive and motivational challenges, use of alcohol or drugs. Symptoms interference: thought1s, mood and anxiety, concentration, energy and motivation, impact of drug side effects. Occupational engagement: changes- family stress, lost friends, risky acquaintances, reduced formal networks and contacts for social life, school and work participation.
