Week eight: categories of crime, street crime (conventional, offenders anyone can commit street crime. Criminal justice system police, courts: white collar crime, offenders , occupation their occupation allows them to commit the crime, and depending on their occupation it depends on what crime they can commit. Criminal justice system they rarely deal with white collar crime and its different types: social dimensions of crime, correlate association between one phenomenon and another. Does not equal causation, and is a relationship between two variables: correlates of crime phenomenon associated with criminal activity, sociological. Social class looks at age, gender, race, ethnicity and class. They are expected to be rebellious: peers & control pulled into things they would otherwise not do, peer pressure to break the law, demographics expected that young people are troublesome. If you look at the age population you can determine how much crime there will be.
