Deviant identities: lemert (1969, primary deviance: initial deviant act, secondary deviance: societal reaction, internalizing the label, person who is labeled may internalize the label, becoming more of that label. Conflict theory: rooted in the work of karl marx. Marx argued that capitalism would inevitably produce internal tensions that would lead to its own destruction.
