How you grow up, people you"re with, where live, all chances your perspective on the world. A theory is a statement that connects facts and why they are related. Structural-functional approach (consensus theory) - a macro-level orientation, society as a complex system whose parts work together for solidarity and stability: looks at society as a whole, we are complex and interdependent, we need each other. Social-conflict approach macro-level orientation, society as an arena of inequality that generates conflict and social changes: cares the most about the economic circumstances, certain race, sex, class, etc. are linked to social inequality. Symbolic-interaction approach micro-level orientation, society as the product of everyday interactions of individuals: looking at things in more detailed and personal way, looking at things at a one to one basis.
