Projective tests: certain parts of personality are projected onto test stimuli that are intentionally ambiguous, require a high level of inference by the clinician in scoring and interpretation, reliability and validity data are weak-mixed, e. g. Objective tests: test stimuli are less ambiguous, roots in empirical tradition more consistent with the scientist-practitioner model, require minimal clinical inference in scoring and interpretation, e. g. Intelligence quotient (iq) tests: variety of tasks ie. recreating block designs, assess verbal and performance domains, very structured.
