PSYC 3100 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Heterozygote Advantage, Zygosity, Libido
Document Summary
Is the goal to minimize the total number of errors?? or to avid a particular kind of error?? this depends on what is more costly. 1. if there is a predator and they act like there was- hit- correct acceptance. Act like a predator is present and its not- false positive- wasted time and energy on running when it didn"t need too. 3. when there is no predator and the rabbit keeps eating- correct rejection. 4. when there is a predator but the rabbit keeps eating- miss - false negative- this is the absolute worst outcome! Therefore is bene cial to be bias and run more often - reduce number of times rabbit gets eaten but it will increase the number of times it makes false positives. The decision maximizes the bene t to cost ratio even though it makes an error - biased decision making.
