Women"s liberation movement and growth of feminism encouraged women to speak out about this violence. Intimate partner violence: any violence occurring between intimate partners who are living together or are separated (also known as spousal violence) Violence against partner includes physical, sexual, financial and emotional abuse. Scale consists of 39 items divided into 5 scales. Items range from constructive problem solving, to verbal or indirect aggression, to physical aggression to sexual aggression. Also a scale to measure the consequences of aggression. Asked how frequently they engage in behaviour and how often they experience these acts. Females are more likely to engage in minor physical aggression (i. e. slapping, kicking or hitting with an object) How the scale is introduced to respondents, because not all acts of violence are precipitated by an argument.
