Slightly less important: dependability, emotional stability and pleasing disposition (correlated and not causal) Selection: assortative mating attraction similarity theory: someone who has the same traits as you that you want out of someone. complimentary needs theory: someone who is going to compliment, opposites attract. * the rst one is more likely (we date people who are in close proximities and someone in the same university than maybe personality) Data collected: one"s personality preference in a partner and people"s own personality (self report and independent report person) Correlations were consistently positive. people who score high on a trait prefer partners who are high in that trait as well.
