Sex difference: what are statistically signi cant differences between men and women on any speci c construct (i. e behaviour, personality) Gender: the socially prescribed way of looking at things as feminine or masculine. Gender stereotypes: things that people believe about males and females that might not actually be true. Use effect size in meta analysis: look at multiple studies all at once to see gender difference patterns. Effect size (d): gives you differences in standard deviation units. Positive d = men higher, negative d = women higher. Men can throw women father than women (d= 2. 00) But even large effect sizes do not necessarily have implications for any one individual. Perceptual sensitivity: favours girls but the effect size is not very large. Surgency (higher degrees of activity level + extraversion): favours boys. Negative affectivity: there is no signi cant difference in children.
