PSYC 2390 Lecture Notes - Lecture 16: Motion Perception, Optical Illusion, Vestibular System
Document Summary
Why is motion important: motion defines object form and can aid in object perception, grouping by common fate (grouping in 2d, things that move together are seen to be grouped together. You can identify a shape by things that move together: it allowed you to form an image, for example, when an animal senses danger, they freeze. So they blend into the background: biological motion: johansson figures, dressed all in black, and light emiiting dials on your joints. What happens is, if you swing the wall togethers the baby, the baby thinks they"re falling forward. So they lean backwards and they fall: when the wall is pulled back, they think they"re falling backwards and lean forwards and fall on face, visual capture. The distance and time in the two different frames. A dot in the left bottom corner in one and top right corner in 2nd one.
