Culture comprises (1) the human-made part of the environment and (2) the social institutions of the society such as norms, rules, and laws (herskovits, 1955) Cultures take time to change, and for cultures to influence each other. In some cultures, i would be considered normal. (bumper sticker, tulsa, oklahoma) You don"t realize the culture you have until you visit somewhere with a different culture. If you live near a river and have to fish in order to survive and have food, that becomes part of the culture. If you live in an environment that requires agriculture people become farmers. Different characteristics are required in different cultures.
