Well, the leaders of those countries previously had no idea they were so out of touch with their people. This chapter will cover the process of groupthink and how surrounding yourself with too many like minded people can cause a warped perception of reality, as well as examine different intragroup processes. We may not be governing officials, but we all have experience working in a group, both formally and informally. This chapter will look at intragroup processes to describe how to group influences people"s behaviour. definitions: Intragroup process: process that happens within a group. Social facilitation: when people do better on a task in the presence of others than. Social inhibition: when people do worse on a task in the presence of others than when they"re alone when they"re alone. Social loafing: a group-produced reduction in individual output on easy tasks where contributions are pooled.
