Document Summary

Frequency: frequency is the number of observaions that fall within a certain category or range of scores irst step to analyzing data: examinaion of distribuion. Histograms: type of bar graph, used to present data in a simple way, iniial idea of what data looks like. Someimes easier to present info in a smooth line curve. Normal distribuion: someimes called the bell curve; symmetrical distribuion with values clustered around a central, mean value (let half is a mirror image of the right half) Negaive skewed distribuion: curve has an extended tail to the let of the cluster. Posiively skewed distribuion: long tail is on the right of your cluster. Researchers prefer normal distribuion but skewed are common. Skews occur because theres an upper or lower limit to the data. Measure of the central point of the distribuion. Mean: arithmeic average of a set of numbers.
